Have to agree with many of the comments here.

It USED to be one of the best.

Now its average - and seams poor when they are busy.

Before opening Coffee Cultures all over the city, this used to be one of the best places to go in Christchurch, now I feel it's on the lower end of the coffee culture scale (which isn't saying much for it) but you can still hit jackpot if it's not too busy!

coffee here is mostly average usually a weak milky flavor but on the whole very inconsistant quality. People just accept average coffee I guess thats why its still open..

This cafe has lost the plot with the coffee, it is terrible, watery overly sweet and a real shame once upon a time it was my favourite place to meet friends. But those days are gone. A real shame.

Coffee is just average, used to be really good till few years ago when they started opening shops all over the city, but not anymore. The selection of cakes and cafe food is really good. Friendly staff and nice ambiance, can be a bit noisy on the weekends with lots of kids around.

We've had cappuchinos there before a movie, and they were great. It has a really good atmosphere and the assistant was happy to make our coffees quickly, so we could get to the movie. In summer it's really nice to sit outside, with our coffees and enjoy the atmosphere of Sumner - a bit like Nelson.

The roast is fan-bloddy-tastic. What they do with it is sometimes OK, sometimes really, really good. Depends who's making it.

Coffee Culture is a Sumner institution. Go there on a weekday between 7:30am and 9am, and you get the crowd filling up with takeaway coffee for the trek into the city. From about 9:30 to 11, you get the "mothers and others" filling in time before lunch. On the weekend, it's a zoo - way too crowded.
The coffee is really variable. The roasted / ground takeaway coffee is the BEST in Christchurch for making good coffee at home. The steamed milk sometimes has a rice pudding taste (burned), which can really spoil it. When they are busy, the quality of the coffee goes down (maybe not rinsing out the machine between shots). A nice place to get a coffee, good service, but a bit variable on the quality stakes. I spent thousands of dollars at Coffee Culture when I lived down the road from there (no joke) - probably 90% of it well worth while.
