We went there for lunch on our wedding anniversary - Sunday 11 September. The food was good, but when I mentioned to the waitress we had just noticed that my husband's water glass was marked with someone else's lipstick, she said ' Oh that dishwasher doesn't get things very clean!' I had expected an abject apology. Only when we paid to leave did she apologise and deduct the cost of our fruit juices! Very poor, I reckon.
I was with my wife a couple of months ago coz she insisted it was a good cafe and I'd say the food was good yet the only thing that disturbs me is that their staff lacks the personal touch with their costumers. We were waiting for somebody to come and get our order but had to go to the counter to get the menu, and it took some time for our order to be served. The management should push for a friendly , racially non biased and approachable staff inorder for them to have good business.
I went yesterday and had lunch. Both the soup and the coffee were delicious!
I love Brigittes coffee and this is my local. They are using Ozone coffee which i havent seen anywhere else yet. Food is great too, 2 thumbs up from me.
This is a local for me and despite a great location the coffee is always marginal and I find the staff aloof. This is a shame, and what gives Merivale a bad name! At one stage the coffee was one of the 'Roberts' (either Harris or Timms - both equally awful) and now they have converted to a boutique brand which is better, but the staff still need to get over themselves and furnish a smile now and then.
I would like to comment on the coffee, but the last time we went there the staff were so intent on talking to another group of customers that they failed to offer us a coffee at the end of our meal. Needless-to-say, we haven't been back. This was a couple of years ago - I hope those staff were fired long ago.
had a fab lunch with excellent coffee and a choc cheesecake to die for
I always have a good cup of coffee here - the last was a trim milk flat white. The milk was thick and smooth. The atmosphere is great, and the food is also great.
