I absolutely loved the coffee at your cafe! My parents and I flew down to Wellington for a weekend in May. On Sunday, before going to Te Papa, we decided to stop for a flat white. The arcade is gorgeous - very charming.
The two boys who worked there were quite friendly, and agreed to pose for photos. They treated our coffees like works of art. I think one of them was named Ross, and he was kind enough to give us advice on how to get around the city (buses etc.)
I am now in the process of moving to the capital and look forward to making Mojo a part of my daily routine.
9.5/10

Thanks,

This review is for the Mojo in Old Bank Arcade.

I had coffee there on saturday (19/7/08), the service and coffee (my flat white tasted very bitter) was bad. Despite being empty we had to wait a while before the barista attended to us, she acted like a zombie (probably was hung over from party on Friday).

I had coffee there before, but on week days and the coffee & service was alright. I would recommend Mojo to put a process in place to stop 'hung over' weekend workers from serving coffee to customers.

The best coffee+service in Wellington (in my opinion) is also ironically from Mojo in State building in Willis Street.

Cheers

Hi Shadow and Nortox,

Thanks for your feedback - and your patience. Unfortunately our waiting times can creep out somewhat during peak times and is an area we are working on. Next time you are in please say hello!

Cheers, Matt.

I appreciate that the place was very busy therefore I won't rate it harshly, however my cappuccino did take an incredibly long time to arrive. It was also a bit bitter and since their coffee beans are not a bitter variety, this makes me think the coffee (or portafilter to be technical) had been left to run a tad too long, however this is understandable when it is so busy.

That was the first time. However every time since then has been brilliant for coffee taste and quality (but still slow). I have now become a member and wouldn't hesitate to keep going there.

First time: 4/10

Since then: 9/10

What can I say? One of the best made cappucinos I've had for a long time. However it took a long time to make which was the only downside...

I do not rate mojo at all, hot chocolate was tasteless, not mixed properly, hot chocolate was sitting at the bottom and when I did mix it, there was clumps in my drink ewwww

Not a review -- just a comment, and a link :)

Check out Coffee Video Magazine for some videos of Mojo, in the "Behind the Bar" section and the "Roaster's Corner".

The best coffee in Wellington. Mojo has at least 4 locations. maybe more now.
they'll do ristrettos, and they do them well. If your latte is not perfect they'll redo it .
Score: 11 out of 10

Mojo is located at one end of The Old Bank Arcade. For those of you not in Wellington, this building is a piece of history. The tiled floor is simply amazing and it retains the atmosphere of an esteemed financial institution. Conversations occur in hushed tones and footsteps echo down the banking chamber as shoppers wander down past the boutiques.

Our coffee arrived very quickly and it was very very good. Great head and lovely body and in a tall glass. Some of the cafes in town superheat the glass in a small blast furnace prior to delivery to you which results in burnt fingers and it takes nearly 4 hours to drink. This one was perfectly hot to drink and easy to gulp with no skin scorched to the glass. As is usual from Mojo, a great flavour, with a smoothe creamy consistency.

There was one disappointment in that there does not appear to be a CafeNet or Telcom Hotspot connection. This is despite being smack in the middle of town. However, there is a Starbucks at the other end of the arcade and I would suggest that you buy your Mojo and then wander down there to connect,
if you must.

Despite the lack of connectivity, a great cafe and a neat place to sit and drink and watch the world go by. A firm 9/10 for coffee quality.
