Review of Cirque by socius on Sun, 12 Nov 2006, updated Sun, 12 Nov 2006:

If you walk into Akaroa from the north, keep walking. Pass all the flash-but-sterile-looking places. Cirque is the nicely done relaxed place at the end. The sort of place you can sit and read the paper (the guy at the next table read ours cover to cover). It feels the like locals hang out there, and apparently they do. We both had the Eggs Akaraoa which was were excellent. The coffee was well made and tasty. They bake all their own (really nice) bread.

Review of Waterfront Eaterie by socius on Sun, 12 Nov 2006, updated Sun, 12 Nov 2006:

On the waterfront in the (northern) first part that you get to. Classic spot. Simple, stylish atmosphere and people. Coffee was smooth and rich. The Wither Hills savvy went well with the view.
